March 14 MP Imad al-Hout told LBC TV on Wednesday that Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt “has forgotten” that he supported the US in the past years.

“Jumblatt forgot that he was with the US and reached the point of accusing the March 14 coalition of taking part in Washington’s projects in the Middle East ,” Hout said.

“How can Jumblatt condemn March 14 MP Mohammad Kabbara’s recent speech that Tripoli is the capital of the Lebanese Sunnis?”

“I tell Jumblatt that it is not the Sunni sect that was dealing with the US.”

His comment comes after Jumblatt said on Monday that “sectarian speech claiming Tripoli is a one-sect city means we are facing a big problem,” in response to Kabbara’s statement last week that Tripoli is the capital of the Lebanese Sunnis.

The PSP leader split from March 14 in 2009, following which he reconciled with past political rivals including Hezbollah, Iran and Syria.

Jumblatt will be visiting Iran within the next two weeks, Iranian Students news Agency ISNA reported on Tuesday… During a recent meeting with Iranian ambassador to Lebanon Ghazanfar Roknabadi, Jumblatt praised Iran’s stances.
