Responding to Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Moqdad and Speaker Nabih Berri , Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said Monday that Lebanon will not be put under Syrian control again.
Moqdad’s said Saturday that “Syrian troops will not return to Lebanon for military purposes”.
“Lebanon is a free, sovereign and independent state. If certain circumstances occurred 30 years ago, which made the Syrian military enter Lebanon, it does not mean the same situation will reoccur,” he told the Free Lebanon radio on Monday.
The LF leader also said that the current Lebanese situation will not explode “due to the awareness of Lebanese leaders and a level of state authority.”
“Fire will not ignite in Lebanon due to the awareness of the various political leaders,” Geagea told Moqdad and added“ Lebanese disputes will remain within their political framework.”
Turning to Berri, Geagea said “anything is acceptable” from Berri.
“March 8 camp is the one crippling Government,” he said.
Berri on Monday accused the majority March 14 alliance of crippling Government.
Geagea also said that President Michel Suleiman and Prime Minister Saad Hariri do not support transferring the issue of “false witnesses” from the cabinet to the Judicial Council “to prevent dragging Lebanon into a conflict .”
MTV reported that PM Saad Hariri is likely to call a cabinet session this weekend and the agenda would be decided by him and Suleiman according to the Constitution.

Turning to Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, Geagea said “anything is acceptable” from Berri.
“March 8 camp, however, is the one crippling Government,” he said.
Berri on Monday accused the majority March 14 alliance of crippling Government.
Geagea said there is a possibility to hold a Cabinet meeting this week.
