Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said on Wednesday that Syrian-Saudi efforts to contain tension relating to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) have not progressed in the past two weeks, adding that they “have came to a complete halt ” because of differences in stances.

During an interview with AFP Geagea said that the Syrians are against the STL while the Saudis support it, adding that Riyadh is preparing to face the tribunal’s repercussions while Damascus insists on stopping or postponing the STL’s indictment.

Geagea also said that he will request Prime Minister Saad Hariri and President Michel Suleiman to hold a cabinet session to address issues related to the concerns of the Lebanese people, and added “If Hezbollah does not want to attend the cabinet session , it should bear the consequences of obstructing the country’s matters.”
