Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri stressed on Monday that “Lebanon’s spirit of unity, tolerance, dialogue, coexistence, moderation and the ability to produce a sound democratic life must remain our way to solve disputes between each other.”
At an iftar banquet he hosted at the residence of his late father, former PM Rafik Hariri, in honor of a number of political, religious and social figures, Hariri added: “Any stance issued from this house must take into consideration the requirements of national interest, because martyr premier Rafik Hariri had defined this approach in our political behavior.”
“We don’t fear for Lebanon from any political uproar, and we hope this uproar alleviate and turn into a calm rhetoric,” Hariri added.
“I said during yesterday’s iftar that dialogue can’t go with treason accusations nor with the recurrent attempts at calling some of us for conducting patriotic and nationalistic blood tests. Today, I repeat my call for ending such approaches and putting the political rhetoric way above shouting insults and making random accusations.”
