UN envoy: STL, tensions with Israel may affect Lebanon’s stability

Share:

U.N. Special Coordinator for Lebanon, Michael Williams said Thursday after meeting Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon “may affect Lebanon’s stability.”

He pointed out however that there are other factors that may also target the country’s stability, such as the tensions with Israel, adding: “We are trying to calm the situation and deal with the facts.”

He stressed that “The STL is an independent entity … and we will see what may come of it, but I am not entitled to comment on the measures it may or may not take because I don’t think anyone has any information over them.”

this STL is the biggest mistake ever. what if it finds the mossad guilty for instance as well as HA. will lebanon wage against israel? or file for punitive damages?

what if the STL finds syrian intelligence guilty? will lebanon sever ties with syria?

obviously behind closed doors, many factors are being considered just like as in the rodney king case in LA. if the cops were found innocent, there would have been a huge riot so the courts had to find the cops guilty to save the state from a huge riot.

same applies here in lebanon with this STL. the indictments will be so minimal hopefully and i say this with all sincerity as i want to save my country, that the charges will be limited to and not including specific parties.

maybe certain HA members were involved but NOT the HA leadership just as maybe certain syrian intel were involved but not the syrian leadership.

then we can move on past this waste of time.
