Bishops call for solidarity and a united vision

maronite bishops confLebanon’s Patriarch Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir chaired on Wednesday the monthly meeting of the Maronite Bishops Council. Following the meeting in Bkirki the council issued a statement in which it welcomed the call for national dialogue scheduled to begin on Tuesday: “Lebanese are looking forward to the national dialogue sessions”

The statement added : Diverging points of view drive a wedge between the Lebanese people, adding “that the country’s situation calls for solidarity and a united vision.

The bishops backed Pope Benedict’s request for protecting Iraq’s Christians from abuse. “We call on you to join in the Day for Solidarity with Christians in Iraq to be held … March 13,” the statement said
