Abu Faour: We don’t seek political gains from reconciliations

Minister of State Wael Abu Faour said on Saturday that the upcoming “reconciliation” in Chouaifat on Sunday—during which Speaker Nabih Berri, Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt and Lebanese Democratic leader MP Arslan are expected to give speeches that aim to strengthen consensus between Lebanese.

“We do not seek political gains from the reconciliation; we seek to make reconciliations a national choice, on which all Lebanese agree,” Abu Faour said.

Chouaifat was scene of the most bloody battle between Hezbollah and the Druze in May 2008 , when Hezbollah tried to occupy the Druze stronghold of Mt Lebanon
