Al-Hayat said Monday that Turkey and France have moved to settle the dispute over the Syrian warrants that have strained the relationship between Lebanon and Syria
The Lebanese officials were summoned last Monday to appear before a Syrian court for in connection with a lawsuit filed by Maj. Gen. Jamil Sayyed accusing them of slander, depriving him of his freedom and falsifying witnesses in the assassination case of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
Sayyed, a suspect in the Hariri assassination was sent to jail in 2005 but was released last June for lack of sufficient evidence
The warrants could negatively impact Prime Minister Saad Hariri’s expected visit to Damascus and could strain the relations further between both countries at a time when Beirut and Damascus were trying to open a new page in their relations
