Following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir in Bkirki on Wednesday, MP Ahmad Fatfat criticized Free Patriotic Movement leader MP Michel Aoun’s visit to Damascus, saying, “It seems Aoun has more important issues than to discuss the Ministerial Statement.” He stressed that there is a difference between a personal and an official visit. He said that he “prefers visits between Lebanon and Syria be done through institutions, only because of the previous tutelage period,” referring to the 30-year Syrian occupation of Lebanon.
Fatfat said that the Sfeir’s political positions are “national and crucial,” adding that the patriarch has no interests other than those for his country.
