If you’re a victim of multiple languages in Lebanon, you know how hard it can be to make a point clearly using just Arabic.

Sometimes, it’s English that helps bring the point across, and other times it’s French. With French, we’ve honestly come a long way in mixing and matching the two languages to make a point come across exactly the way we intend it to, most of the time without even thinking.

Here are 6 times Lebanese have perfected a French/Arabic mashup:

1. Merci kteer

And add anjad to the mix, and you’ve got the perfect sentence. “Anjad merciiii kteeeeeeeeeer kteer kteer.”

2. Kifik ca va?

You don’t even think about it anymore, it’s like these two words were meant to go together. Always. Forever.

3. Déjà khalaset

When you want to make a point that you’re just so productive and were able to finish all you needed to finish before getting a reminder from a third party…

4. Khedi douche

Because if you say “foote tahamame” it basically means your hair and body must be cleaned. But with douche, it’s just so clear that you mean a quick body rinse.

5. Bonjour kifik?

Another combo that just makes perfect sense.

6. Hketi el docteur?

Because “hakim” is too overrated?
