Syrian authorities have prevented the entry of 48 Lebanese trucks loaded with 1500 metric tons of wheat , because the product did not reportedly match the original wheat samples submitted to the Syrian authorities.
The trucks have been waiting for 20 days at the border crossing in Jousieh .
There are conflicting reports over the delay in the decision by the Syrian authorities to reject the wheat , since it doesn’t take that long to compare wheat samples.
The trucked wheat belongs to 2 traders from the Beqaa region .
Arrangements are being made to return the wheat to Lebanon.
Syria is a wheat exporter but the severe drought forced it to import .
