An earthquake measuring 6.0 on the Richter Scale hit the coast of Guatemala on Monday, near the country’s border with El Salvador. The center of the quake was 60 miles southeast of Guatemala’s capital Guatemala City, and according to MSNBC the tremors were “strongly felt in the capital”. No damage, injuries, or fatalities have yet been reported.
Another earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter Scale hit southwest Greece today, according to the Athens Geodynamic Institute on its Web site. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The quake’s epicenter was 193 kilometers west of the capital of Athens, where the quake was also felt, according to the institute. The tremor struck at 5:56 p.m. local time.
