3 wounded near Ex- president Franjieh’s palace in Ehden

Bodyguards at former President Suleiman Franjieh’s palace in Ehden exchanged fire with a car in the palace’s surrounding, the National News Agency reported on Sunday.

The incident happened at 5:00 a.m., NNA reported , adding that two bodyguards and a third person inside the car, were injured.

Marada Movement leader MP Suleiman Franjieh , who is the grandson of the former president said in a statement that the incident must not be exaggerated, and added that the relevant judicial and security authorities are investigating the matter.

“The identity of those who opened fire is now known,” the MP added.

Gemayel condemns

MTV reported that former president and current phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel called MP Franjieh and condemned “the Ehden shooting”

MTV added that based on security information, the shooting was the result of a personal issue and does not have any political implications.

Mikati calls

Prime Minister Najib Mikati also called the Marada leader over “the Ehden shooting”, National News Agency reported on Sunday.

Mikati told Franjieh that relevant authorities are carrying out their investigation to reveal the circumstances of the incident, the report said, adding that Mikati also contacted Interior Minister Marwan Charbel to voice the importance of handing over the perpetrators to the judiciary.
