March 14 MP Ammar Houri told Future TV on Thursday that the new majority is fake and is only a temporary one because nothing unites it. In reference to the Hezbollah led March 8 alliance
“What kind of majority is this when there is no agenda that unites it? This is a fake majority.”
He stressed on the importance of forming a cabinet to run the citizens’ affairs, and asked whether the decision to form a cabinet has been made or not.
He criticized Speaker Nabih Berri’s call for a parliament session aimed at bypassing the functions of the cabinet.
“Berri is trying to convince others of something that he himself is not convinced about,” he said
On the situation of the situation in Syria he said : “A solution must be found to stop the bloodshed . This cannot continue”
The Iranian and Syrian backed Hezbollah brought down PM Saad Hariri’s government on January 12 over the Special Tribunal for Lebanon’s (STL) imminent indictment which is widely expected to implicate Hezbollah members in the assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri in 2005.
Lebanon has been run by a caretaker government since last January. Nagib Mikati was appointed in January as the PM designate with the backing of the Hezbollah led-March 8 alliance, MPs Jumblatt and Mohammad Safadi . March 14 leaders have repeatedly said that intimidation from Hezbollah’s weapons helped secure the parliamentary majority for Mikati’s nomination.
