Hariri postpones trip to Egypt, report

Caretaker Prime Minister Saad Hariri postponed his visit to Egypt, which was scheduled to take place on Saturday.

According to a statement issued by his office, Hariri postponed the visit to a later date due to a change in the schedule of Egypt’s de facto leader, Field Marshall Mohammad Hussein Tantawi, who was expected to meet with Hariri.

However, the statement did not elaborate further.

In another development Hariri telephoned Bahraini King Sheikh Hamad bin Issa al-Khalifa asking not to let the unfortunate position of Lebanese – Bahrain’s relations to affect the Lebanese living there.

MTV reported on Thursday that the Bahraini authorities have ordered many Lebanese to leave Bahraini territory within 48 hours.

MTV quoted an anonymous Lebanese worker in Bahrain as saying that “the departure order was given to tens of Lebanese working there.”

Lebanese ambassador to Bahrain Aziz al-Qazzi told Free Lebanon radio on Friday that the Bahraini authorities asked 10 Lebanese to leave the country.
