Future Movement deputy head Antoine Andraous told Akhbar al-Yawm news agency on Monday that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad committed a series of errors during his visit to Lebanon

He cited as an example Ahmadinejad’s branding of Turkey as a confrontation state while it actually maintains diplomatic relations with Israel.

Andraous stressed: “Lebanon does not need Ahmadinejad to tell it that Israel is the enemy”.

He said that Ahmadinejad has done nothing for Lebanon…all he does he gives weapons and money to Hezbollah, while Lebanon has sacrificed blood in its confrontation with Israel.

Andraous added: “We will not be in confrontation unless there is Arab support for it, and Iranian support is not enough.”

Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi accused Iran of working to destabilize the Middle East in an interview that aired Sunday on CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS.” “We know that unfortunately Iran is trying to wreak havoc on the region, and trying to destabilize the region by destabilizing Iraq, and destabilizing Lebanon and destabilizing the Palestinian issue,” Allawi said.

Other Lebanese leaders criticized Ahmadinejad visit

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea who last Wednesday described as “moderate” the speech made by visiting Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad , criticized his speeches in Dahiyeh and Bint Jbeil, during an interview with the Paris Match magazine published on Sunday.

“The Iranian president’s speech in Baabda on Wednesday was that of a statesman, while his speeches in Dahiyeh and Bint Jbeil were those of a partisan, ” Geagea told Paris Match.

Ahmadinejad on Wednesday in Baabda reaffirmed Tehran’s ties with Lebanon , whereas in Dahiyeh he warned that hegemonic powers are fabricating accusations, a reference to the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL)—to sow divisions in Lebanon.

Geagea said liberating occupied Lebanese territories is no longer Hezbollah’s cause, adding that the Resistance is now part of a large confrontation between Iran on one side and Western and moderate Arab nations on the other.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad ended his two-day visit to Lebanon on Thursday. Prior to departing from Lebanon Ahmadinejad met Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah at the Iranian Embassy in Beirut on Thursday evening.
