A bomb exploded at a Canadian Armed Forces recruiting office in Trois-Rivières, Quebec, early Friday, causing extensive damage. The newspaper La Presse in Montreal later received a faxed message from a group calling itself Résistance Internationaliste, claiming responsibility for the explosion. The message denounced Canada’s military role in Afghanistan and the pledge of allegiance made by Canadian troops to Queen Elizabeth II, who is on an official visit to Canada. NYT
