Beirut- A military alliance fighting in support of President Bashar al-Assad said on Wednesday it could hit U.S. positions in Syria, warning that its “self-restraint” over U.S. air strikes on government forces would end if Washington crossed “red lines”.

The threat marks an escalation of tensions between the United States and Iran-backed forces over control of Syria’s southeastern frontier with Iraq, where the United States has been training Syrian rebels at a base inside Syrian territory.

The United States launched air strikes on Tuesday against what it said were Iranian-backed fighters who it said posed a threat to U.S. and U.S.-backed forces in the area, the second such attack in three weeks.

The statement from the pro-Assad alliance was issued in the name of the “commander of the operations room of the forces allied to Syria”, and was circulated by a military news unit run by the Lebanese group Hezbollah, one of Assad’s military allies.

Assad’s allies also include Iran and Russia. The statement did not spell out whether Moscow was a signatory to it.

“America knows well that the blood of the sons of Syria, the Syrian Arab Army, and its allies is not cheap, and the capacity to strike their positions in Syria, and their surroundings, is available when circumstances will it,” the statement said.

It said such attacks could be carried out with “different missile and military systems, in the light of the deployment of American forces in the region”.

The statement added that the silence of “the allies of Syria” thus far was not a sign of weakness but “an exercise in self-restraint” to allow for “other solutions”.

“This will not last if America goes further, and crosses the red lines,” it said.

Do you mean destroying several armored Hezb/Iran/Assad convoys was not a
    “red line” ?
Things are about to get interesting in the Muddle East. I almost hope that the Mullah jihads continues to feel brave enough to continue to get spanked again….and again. They might as well attack a US carrier group in the Persian Gulf while they are at it. That will get this party started.

It’s a British-Zionist tactic known as provocation to legitimize further action (always sugar coated as self-defense). Let’s only look at history:

From the beginning of World War II through to the summer of 1947, there were virtually no Palestinian attacks, even though Zionist terror against Palestinians continued. A British explanation for the Palestinians’ failure to respond in kind was that they understood that the attacks were a trap, intended to elicit a response that the Zionists would frame as an attack against which they would have to ‘defend’ themselves. This was a Zionist tactic noted by the British as early as 1918, and it remains Israel’s default strategy today, most blatantly in Gaza, but also in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Through early 1982 Israel carried out a series of provocative actions in southern Lebanon, including the sinking of Lebanese fishing boats in Lebanese territorial waters…military maneuvers in southern Lebanon that were described by the UN as “intensive, excessive, and provocative,” … and — from August 1981 to May 1982 — 2125 violations of Lebanese airspace and 652 violations of Lebanese territorial waters. None of these actions succeeded in eliciting a PLO “provocation” that could serve as a pretext for the planned invasion. https://www.indybay.org/newsitems/2003/06/23/16218181.php

Over 1700 Hezbollah KIA and counting in Iraq, Syria and Yemen. This death toll is likely to skyrocket if Hezbollah decides to attack the US forces in S.Syria. Iran really must want that Hezbollah highway into Lebanon. Hopefully Russia will talk pro-Assad forces out of picking a fight with the USAF. We all remember the accidental airstrike on pro-Assad forces last Sept. 62 dead and 100+ wounded. Those A-10s and F-18s will make mincemeat out of Hezbollah and Iraqi Shi’a terrorists. Iran’s Martyr Foundation should get ready for bankruptcy at this rate.
