FIBA Asia: Lebanon defeats Jordan 80-76, moves to quarter final

Lebanon’s national basketball team beat Jordan 80-76 Tuesday, allowing it to move ahead to the quarter final of the 2015 FIBA Asian championship.

The key players in the game, which was hosted in Chansha, south central China, were Jay Youngblood, Amir Saoud and Mohammad Haidar, with Saoud scoring 20 points and four rebounds.

Lebanon has managed to win two of the three games played at the beginning of the tournament.

With its victory over Jordan, the Lebanese team will advance to the quarter final where it will play against the Philippines.

The Lebanese team, which is ranked 34 worldwide, has finished in second place three times in the FIBA championship, in 2001, 2005 and 2007.

It landed in the fourth group in the preliminary round with Taiwan, Qatar and Kazakhstan, and qualified to the second round after achieving five points.
