A commercial airplane crashed in Colombia’s southwestern jungle, killing 10 passengers and crew.
Tourists including a child were killed when at this crash in Colombia’s Amazon rainforest.
Search teams on Sunday recovered three bodies from the wreckage of the plane, the AFP news agency reported Gustavo Ortega, a Colombian rescue official, as saying.
The aircraft with the registration number HK-4755 PA 34 Navajo took off from Araracuara Airport in the country’s south at about 3pm local time on Saturday.
It lost contact with air traffic control as it went over the town of Florencia, AFP reported.
The wreckage of the plane was found 10km from the centre of the town of Puerto Santander in the east of the country.
One man who was supposed to have boarded the flight, Silvio Rojas, told the Colombian radio station RCN radio the plane appeared to suffer engine failure shortly after take-off and showed a lot of smoke after take off.
The director of operations for Colombia’s civil aeronautics agency said Sunday that the bodies have been recovered from the flight, which was going from Araracuara to Florencia in the country’s southwest.
Col. Juan Carlos Rocha said the plane was reported missing at about 3 p.m. (2000 GMT) Saturday. Officials are trying to determine why it crashed in the Puerto Santander region as well as the identities of the dead.
The cause of the crash had not yet been determined and is under investigation.
