The person who was arrested on Thursday by the Internal Security Forces’ information branch for operating the Free Sunnis of Baalbek Brigades fake Twitter account is a Hezbollah member, Al-Mustaqbal newspaper reported on Friday.
“Hussein Shaman al-Hussein, born in 1995, is a Lebanese citizen from Baalbek’s Al-Sharawneh neighborhood and is a member of Hezbollah,” a security source told the daily.
The source also reported that Hussein admitted during the investigations of operating the Twitter account, which claimed a number of terrorist attacks against Shiite targets.
The account also once threatened the Christians of Lebanon and pledged to target churches.
The account also has threatened to target Interior Minister Nouhad al-Mashnouq, army chief Gen. Jean Kahwaji and Maj. Suzan al-Hajj, chief of the Internal Security Forces’ Cyber Crime and Intellectual Property Protection bureau.
The arrest appears to dismiss the rumors that the Twitter account was being operated by foreign intelligence agencies or Arab states that were looking to incite sectarian strife.
