Residents of the Beqaa town of Al-Mrayjat protested the death of Lebanese Armed Forces Captain Pierre Bachaalany, who was killed earlier on Friday by gunmen in Arsal , near the border with Syria .

The residents blocked the Al-Mrayjat main road with burning tires and demanded the Arsal municipality chief to hand over the gunmen who killed Bachaalany.

Four members of the Lebanese army ( including Captain Bachaalany ) and two gunmen were killed in clashes in the country’s Bekaa Valley in area of Arsal on Friday after militants attacked a LAF patrol, security sources said.

Some residents said the clash broke out after the army entered the area to arrest a suspected member of the hardline anti-Assad Islamist group Jabhat al-Nusra, who is believed to travel frequently between Lebanon and Syria.
