It’s about time to expel Syrian envoy, says Lebanon MP

MP Akram Chehayeb, a key member of the Progressive Socialist party which is headed by MP Walid Jumblatt said on Thursday that it’s about time for the Lebanese government to expel the Syrian ambassador to Lebanon.

“It’s about time for our government to rise against deliberate and repeated humiliation and expel the one who has turned the embassy into a den of hatred and conspiracy,” Chehayeb said in a statement issued by his media office.

The MP hailed the courageous step taken by the Greek government in expelling the Syrian envoy

This development comes after reports revealed that the Syrian forces loyal to president Bashar al-Assad fired Scud missiles at rebel forces, and used incendiary devices similar to napalm weapons against the civilan population.

The current Lebanese government is dominated by the Iranian and Syrian backed Hezbollah militant group which is supporting Assad regime in his crackdown against the Syrian uprising. Over 42,000 people have been killed since the uprising began in mid March 2011.
