Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt met on Wednesday with a delegation from the Future Movement to address the drafting of a new electoral law.
The Future Movement delegation included MPs Ahmad Fatfat, Hadi Hobeich, Ziad al-Qadiri as well as party advisers , National News Agency (NNA) reported adding that PSP MP Akram Chehayeb and Secretary General Zafer Nasser also took part in the meeting.
Jumblatt defected from the March 14 coalition on 2009, after which he reconciled with Hezbollah and nominated Najib Mikat as Lebanon’s PM to replace March 14 leader Saad Hariri.
The Lebanese politicians are debating the electoral law for the upcoming 2013 parliamentary elections. After the parliament agreed on drafting a law based on proportional representation.
Jumblatt is opposed to the proposed law and called for adopting the 2009 electoral law, which is based on simple majority representation.
