Minister of Foreign Affairs Adnan Mansour told Hezbollah’s Al-Manar TV on Saturday that Lebanon requested help from the UN to demarcate its maritime borders with Israel.

However, he added that the UN has yet to respond to the request.

Mansour also said that UNIFIL was contacted about the matter, adding that the latter said it had no jurisdiction to carry out such a task.

The Lebanese Parliament in August 2010 passed an oil exploration bill, which calls for the establishment of a committee to oversee exploration and drilling off Lebanon.
