Internal Security Forces chief general Ashraf Rifi lauded the efforts of the ISF and the Lebanese army in preserving security during today’s rally, which “showed a civilized image of the Lebanese people and the military and security institutions.”
The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) also announced on Sunday that its units had taken “exceptional security measures” to ensure public stability and combat organized crime.
Additional checkpoints were set up on many roads and 21 cars, 69 motorcycles and 123 people of various nationalities were arrested, the LAF Directorate of Orientation said in a statement.
