LAF arrests the killers of Army Major, Sergeant

The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) issued a statement on Thursday saying that the army identified the perpetrators responsible for the killing of an LAF Major and Sergeant in the Bekaa, adding that the army is raiding the places where the suspects are believed to be located.”

A major was martyred during a raid in the town of Majdal Anjar (in the Bekaa Valley) in an attempt to find a deserter who had sought refuge there,” the spokesman told AFP, declining to disclose his name.

“All those who collaborate or hide the perpetrators will also be wanted [by the LAF],” the statement added.

AFP identified earlier in the day “LAF Major Abdo Jasser and Sergeant, Ziad al-Mayss, were martyred during a raid in the town of Majdel Aanjar [in the Bekaa Valley] in an attempt to find a deserter who had sought refuge there.”

Update: The army reported that it arrested the murderers of Major Abdo al-Jasser and Sergeant Ziad al-Mayss after a gunfight in Majdal Anjar. They are Hussein Ajeij and his brother, who was wounded in the raid.
