UNIFIL Commander General Alberto Asarta Cuevas (R) headed a meeting on Wednesday at one of UNIFIL’s Naqoura bases between representatives from the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and Israeli officers, according to a statement issued by the peacekeeping force.
“The participants in the meeting discussed matters related to the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 as well as the disputed border village of Ghajar,” the statement said.
“Both Lebanese and Israeli sides agreed to commit to cooperating with UNIFIL to ensure the implementation of Resolution 1701,” it added.
Update: NBN TV reported that the Israeli officers tried during the tripartite meeting to intervene in the issue of the recent protests against UNIFIL , but the Lebanese officers refused to allow to allow them to intervene
