Ad-Diyar newspaper has reported based on its own sources that Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblatt will visit Damascus before February 14,” the day which marks the fifth anniversary of the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
The daily said Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has paved the way for the PSP leader’s visit to Damascus.
There was a lot of speculation that Jumblatt will publicly apologize to the Syrian leadership and people on Feb14, but Jumblatt has denied last that he will make any public apology.
Jumblatt has been evasive about the size of his participation in the Hariri rally on February 14 and wants to leave this to the last minute . In an interview with As Safir he complained that some were trying to keep him out. “Unfortunately some people are trying to isolate us from the commemoration and seeking to build a hostile atmosphere against us without any justification.” Jumblatt said
