In an interview with al-Massira magazine , Lebanon’s Maronite Patriarch Nasrallah Sfeir said that the possibility of war exists as long as Hezbollah wants to play the role of the state.
“The side that has arms is forcing itself on others,” Sfeir said “The possibility of a war exists as long as Hezbollah wants to play the role of the state.”
The patriarch rejected the presence of two armies in the country, calling “for the continuation of the struggle until the rise of the state.”
On relations with Damascus, Sfeir said: “The Syrians kept their influence despite their withdrawal from Lebanon because some Lebanese maintained their compliance with their tutelage.” He was referring to Hezbollah and its allies in Lebanon
