Najjar: Amending municipal-electoral law unlikely due to time constraints

Lebanon’s Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar told VOL on Monday that it is highly unlikely for the municipal-electoral law to be amended because of time constraints.

“If the cabinet agrees to the proposed amendments, then the parliament should immediately discuss adopting the amendments,” Najjar said.

He added that there is a possibility to lower the voting age for 18 years, but this necessitates amending the constitution.
