The transfer of wealth, power and influence to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps is accelerating in the wake of last year’s mass demonstrations, analysts say.

The Guard, established in 1979 to safeguard the cultural ideals of Iran’s Islamic revolution, has become a powerful economic force in the country, controlling construction and hundreds of other companies while garnering $6 billion in public contracts over a two-year span, The Washington Post reported Sunday.
