The Information Office of the the Lebanese Democratic Party reported that MP Talal Arslan held last Sunday evening a meeting with Democratic Gathering bloc leader MP Walid Jumblatt, to discuss the reconciliation meeting with Hezbollah which is scheduled to take place this coming Sunday in Chouifat. Speaker Nabih Berri, Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah , Arslan and Jumblatt are expected to address the attendees.
In May 2008 Chouifat was the site of the fiercest battle between Hezbollah and the Druze community.
