In an interview with Hezbollah’s Al Manar TV , Secretary general of the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council Nasri Khoury said ” no official request has been made to abolish the council, nor there has been any request to amend any of te treaties between both countries ”
Recently there has been many calls by Lebanese politicians to abolish the Syrian-Lebanese Higher Council and for amending some of the treaties between Lebanon and Syria that were signed during the Syrian tutelage. Lebanon and Syria have established diplomatic relations and many politicians believe that all issues previously handled by the council can now be handled through the embassies of both countries
Khoury said revision of treaties is normal as long as this done legally and within the spirit of cooperation, coordination and brotherly ties” between Lebanon and Syria.
