BEIRUT , LEBANON -Warplanes from the U.S.-led coalition targeted two Syrian army positions in the eastern Syrian desert, a military media unit run by Lebanon’s Hezbollah group said early on Thursday.

The unit, a Damascus ally, said the strikes took place near T2, an energy installation located near the border with Iraq and about 100 km (60 miles) west of the Euphrates river where the coalition is backing ground forces against Islamic State.

A spokesman for the coalition could not be immediately reached by phone and Syrian state media did not immediately report the strikes.

Eastern Syria was mostly held by Islamic State until last year, when two rival campaigns, one by the Syrian army backed by Russia, Iran and Hezbollah, the other by Kurdish and Arab militias backed by the U.S. coalition, took most of its land.

Communication between Russia and the United States averted most clashes between them. However, the coalition has struck Syrian pro-government forces that it said were attempting to attack coalition positions.

The U.S. military operating outside the coalition also maintains a base at Tanf in the eastern Syrian desert near the borders with Iraq and Jordan and last year struck pro-government forces moving along a road toward it.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported two waves of U.S.-led missile attacks early Thursday it said targeted areas controlled by IS east of the Euphrates River.

If confirmed, the attacks would be the first by the U.S. on Syrian army positions since April, when the U.S., Britain and France bombed government facilities in retaliation for a suspected gas attack blamed on Syria’s government.

US denies it. Hezbollah being delusional?

Don’t be surprised if we see the blame switch to Israel. Its always Israel, right?

Most likely Israeli F-35s getting some target practice. Considering the way things are going between Iran and Israel in Syria lately, Israel would be the most likely perpetrator.

Aaah, but there is a new target, Iran’s secret ICBM factory just recently announced. Not to mention Iran has no plans on giving up its occupation of Syria or its plans to constantly antagonize and attack Israel. And besides, regularly destroying Hezbollah is a great way to use up any old JDAM’s nearing their “best before” dates.

So true! Hezbollah and IRGC are giving the IAF a lot of target practice lately. I must admit that Soleimani’s pitiful response to IAF airstrikes in Syria (32 rockets into the Golan) was amusing. Could it be that Iran is going to give up on proxy war with Israel and switch to conventional warfare? Probably not. It is refreshing to see the IRGC losing at least 10 generals in Syria and Iraq. Hezbollah’s death toll must be above 2000 by now (it was over 1800 a year ago). Revenge is a dish best served cold! 4500 US troops killed in Iraq and 2400 killed in Afghanistan. The Axis of Resistance (AKA Terrorism) is getting some major payback from America and Israel!

Since Israel and Syria are still at war, an Israeli Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II can certainly practice its abilities in Syrian air territory (Syrians seems to be in bad shape to prevent it) without braking any peace agreement……????

The Syrians seems to be in bad shape despite the assistance of the Russian military presence.

However I don’t understand how a country like Syria is so powerless to determine their own future without being bullied by Iranian and russian forces.

More BS from Hezbollah terrorists. It was most likely Israel (given the presence of IRGC/Hezbollah terrorists based at the target area). America is proud of its airstrikes on Assad and ISIS in Syria. America doesn’t keep these kinds of attacks a secret.

Amen to that! Iran, Syria and Hezbollah are finding out that Karma is a bitch!
