Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Abdul Rauf Alam has asked the business community to explore untapped trade potential of Lebanese market. While speaking to Ambassador of Lebanon to Pakistan Mona El Tannir, he said additional steps were needed to promote economic cooperation to bring masses of the two countries closer.

The meeting was attended by leading businessmen, who discussed ways and means to promote greater trade relations between the two countries. The FPCCI president briefed the ambassador about the functions of trade bodies in the country and invited Lebanese businessmen to visit and hold single country exhibition in Pakistan. Alam was of the opinion that enormous potential for bilateral trade was available.

However, both countries could not tap unexplored potential so far. On the occasion, Mona said that her country was known for production of olives and olive oil. She said that Pakistan was importing olives, generators and some other items from Lebanon but the bilateral trade can be improved. She said that Pakistani textiles, rice, handicrafts and carpets are very popular in her country, while the tourism sector of Lebanon offers various opportunities.
