Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi hailed Lebanese Hezbollah’s role in the Middle east particularly “its a pivotal role in the anti-Israeli front”, according to a report by Iran’s state owned FARS News Agency
During a meeting with the Lebanese Ambassador to Tehran Fadi Hajali on Sunday Boroujerdi was quoted as saying:
“Hezbollah is an important actor in maintaining sustainable peace and security in the region.”
The senior Iranian legislator noted that the people of Lebanon and the region should take pride in Hezbollah for its triumph over Israel in 2000 and 2006
Hajali, who is reportedly closely associated with Hezbollah and who was appointed as Lebanon’s ambassador to Tehran last March praised the role that Iran plays in the region as ” a key role in the preservation of peace and security”.
Hezbollah was established in 1982 by the Iranian Revolutionary Guards .
The Lebanese Shiite militia , which is known as Tehran’s regional trump card has now become Syrian president Bashar al Assad’s trump card in his crackdown against the mostly Sunni rebels, according to Mideast observers
