The body of Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah has been recovered from the site of an Israeli air attack on Beirut’s southern suburbs and is intact, a medical source and a security source told Reuters on Sunday.
While Hezbollah’s statement on Saturday confirming Nasrallah’s death did not say how exactly he was killed nor when his funeral would be held, the two sources said his body had no direct wounds and that it appeared the cause of death was blunt trauma from the force of the blast.
Israeli army spokesman Avichay Adraee claimed on Sunday that “in targeting Hezbollah’s main headquarters, 20 other leaders were eliminated in addition to Nasrallah.”
He indicated in a statement that “the Israeli army on Friday eliminated Nasrallah and the commander of the southern front, Ali Karaki, who is one of the party’s prominent leaders,” noting that “more than 20 other leaders of different ranks were eliminated, who had gathered inside that underground headquarters in the southern suburb of Beirut.”
Adraee explained that “among the prominent Hezbollah leaders who were eliminated are:
Ibrahim Hussein Jazini – Commander of Nasrallah’s Security Unit.
Samir Tawfiq Dib – Nasrallah’s advisor for many years
Abdul Amir Muhammad Sablini – Hezbollah’s force building official.
Ali Nayef Ayoub – Hezbollah’s fire control official.
