WARSAW (Reuters) – The world should be back to normal by the end of 2022 thanks to COVID-19 vaccines, Bill Gates said in an interview for Polish newspaper Gazeta Wyborcza and television broadcaster TVN24.

“This is an incredible tragedy,” the Microsoft co-founder said on the pandemic, adding that the only good news was the access to vaccines.

“By the end of 2022 we should be basically completely back to normal,” Gates said.

Gates, a billionaire who stepped down as chairman of Microsoft Corp in 2014, has through his philanthropic Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation committed at least $1.75 billion to the global response to the COVID-19 pandemic. That includes support for some makers of vaccines, diagnostics and potential treatments.

The COVAX facility, backed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI), aims to secure 2 billion vaccine doses for lower income countries by the end of 2021.

    Let’s hope that he is not wrong about his prediction.

      I thought end of 2021 . One more year of this will be dreadful
      The most important is everybody should get vaccinated with whatever vaccine is available . They all work . Have you been vaccinated ?
      I already have both shots and will start traveling soon

        According to the conclusion of the Robert Koch Institute, people over the age of 65 should not take Astra Zeneca’s vaccine.
        Astra Zeneca protests against the German announcement, so now it’s back and forth about Astra Zeneca’s vaccine.
        No one guarantees the activity of the vaccine.
        Then there were reports of blood clots in some people who had been vaccinated with the AstraZeneca shot, and more than a dozen European countries suspended its use pending a safety review.

        Anyway people over 70 years of age as well as people with chronic previous illnesses of any age (like myself) are considered to be at risk.
        These people are more likely to develop a severe disease.

        I want to be vaccinated.
