Syrian shelling of the Lebanese northern border town of Bqayaa Wednesday destroyed a house, security sources told The Daily Star.

No casualties were reported as a result of the early morning artillery and rocket fire.

However, sources said an abandoned house belonging to Mustafa Khalife and located near a Lebanese Securite Generale post was almost completely destroyed by the barrage.

The sources, who spoke to The Daily Star on condition of anonymity, said traffic was scarce on Qammar bridge Wednesday morning following nightlong fighting on the Syrian side of the border.
