The pan Arab newspaper al Sharq al Awsat reported on Wednesday that Hezbollah has been constantly announcing obituaries of fallen martyrs but the obituaries are not revealing the place of martyrdom.

This has reportedly raised the question that has been on everyone’s mind: “Have these martyrs fallen in Syria while fighting in support of the regime ?”

Riad al-Asaad, the commander of the rebel Free Syrian Army appears to have the answer . He told the Lebanese newspaper daily Star in a report published on Wednesday :

“Hezbollah fighters are on the ground in Syria”, adding “we have confirmed that it is involved in events inside Syria, especially in Talkalakh and Homs. We have seen heavily armed [Hezbollah] convoys and several buses.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said Wednesday that more than 15,800 Syrians have been killed in the Syrian government’s 15 month assault on protesters opposed to President Bashar al-Assad.
