Turkish jet ‘downed by Syria in international airspace’

Turkey’s foreign minister has said the fighter jet shot down by Syrian air defence forces on Friday was in international airspace when it was hit.

Ahmet Davutoglu said the unarmed plane was not on a secret mission related to Syria, but had mistakenly entered Syrian airspace before the incident.

Syria maintains that it engaged the aircraft in its airspace “according to the laws that govern such situations”.

The Turkish and Syrian navies are still searching for the two crew members.

Ankara has promised its response will be strong, decisive and legitimate once it has ascertained all the circumstances surrounding the incident.

    Well, I guess the Turks won’t be flying around in unarmed planes any more. But if the Syrian pilot had gotten on the radio he’d have known that.
     Hot-dog pilots just love to ‘engage’; and considering that Syrians also love to shoot over borders, a couple of miles here or there doesn’t mean much.
    (Later we find out it was ground-fire … not a Syrian plane. Mis-read the ‘story’ // nevertheless …)

      No Patience, this why the rest of the region shouldn’t mess with Syrian. Like Basher Al Assad said in one of his speeches, There are things you know about Syria and there things you don’t. Syria has one of the most advanced military weapon in the region thanks to our brothers from Russia and Iran.
       
      So let this be a lesson to all, If anyone intends on invading Syria, Understand that the ramifications are going to be severe.

        A reminder for you, (June 5th 1967. Turkey is capable of the same thing but in half the time….

        But why did this happen in the first place?. To attack Syria you need a good reason to blame them, you can not find a better way, Turkey new this mite happen and open the doors for an attack..Hope no war starts and peace will be made on all sides but the flame is running out of gas….or should I say something stronger is about to heat the flame….

          Between people like Corty farting foul opinions, and the cows burping a lot, the planet’s population may well be reaching the proportions of the most-huge dinosaurs who also ate vegetation and may well have been responsible for the atmospheric changes which eliminated them. Imagine how long you could power your cook-stove on a 40-ton dinosaur fart. 🙂

They mite give Syria weapons but who do you think Turkey get thier weapons from Lebanon… Russia and Iran have big weapons but let me tell you, England, USA, Isreal, France, Germany give Turkey 100 times better weapons than the crap your talking about…..from RUssia…Some people are so brainwashed they can only see the what they want…Syria will not last one day with Turkey that is fact not from my ass….Give me facts of what they are able to do with what they have, not what you wish for……lol No yourrite this is 2012 and Turkey and Isreal are 1000 times more powerful so they mite do it in 60 mins not a day…

        Just some facts Turkey is the Sixth most powerful military force in the world, Syria 35th, Iran 12th. Facts.
        Your telling me Iran has a bigger stronger airforce because that is the muscles not men…

        60,000 active personnel in the airforce.
        Turkey is part of NATO nuclear sharing policy
        90 b61 nuclear bombs
        500,000 troops
        Aircrafts 6 times more than Syria and 20 years younger and more advanced so no it is not 1967, but Syria have a lot of weapons dating back that far and so do Iran
        ..What you should be saying is NO WAR NO KILLING NO MATTER WHO IT IS ARAB OR NOT. WE SHOULD LIVE IN PEACE TOGETHER.
        Peace is what you should be preaching . So come up with FACTS NOT SIDES.

        WHO IS Turkeys strongest allies see if you can count them on three hands, but who counts more than the 12 strong, the biggest one of all, I will let you work that one out…. with 47 air bases not including deployment of troops over 28 navel basis and 12 nuc ships mobile, HOW many nuclear weapons sites do they have around the world, I mean come on who is going to war with nucs NO ONE, but think about it. I mean really what the crap is Russia going to do or China….

          This isn’t 1967 anymore champ. Turkey might also have advanced weapon, but as advanced as Russia and Iran, Now I don’t think so. Who is Syrians strongest allies. You can work that out for yourself.

          interesting, 

          If
          what you are saying is correct and I’m not saying it isn’t, why doesn’t Turkey
          and its allies do what they have been saying they wanted to do from the very
          beginning since the Syrian issue started. Invade Syria. If you are going to say
          because of the veto’s, this has never stopped the US before. 

          The
          US are no longer the police of the world as they have been for many years. There is now some new players with the same fierce if not fiercer artillery  I
          never said Syria was bigger or stronger than Turkey, however Iran, Russia and China are.
          That is fact. I hope this is never tested because I agree with you, peace and
          harmony is the only real answer.  

           

          You shouldn’t under estimate Iran, China and Russia.

          In the end the only real loser is those poor people who get caught
          up in the middle of the destruction while all the major players get richer. And
          that is definitely fact.

        No your rite the US is not the police anymore in the open, but they do what they want through others. You see they don,t need to be seen as the bad guy anymore, give the shit work for others to do..US will be the force for a very long time, even if people think not…they mite look as if they are going broke with numbers in peoples face, but that is only a small part of the story…CIA is in 320 places around the world even Russia and China….They do things a little bit better and smarter than the rest..
        Russia have no balls and no brains to be a super power, China will eat itself alive, the people are starting to ask for better life.. better pay, a free life and China can not pay the people an xtra dollar or the world will walk away… who will feed 1.3 billion with no work……if the world has to pay more for production….

        So no matter who has bigger balls, we are ALL THE LOOSERS. PEOPLE AND THE PLANET…..WE WILL GO BACKWARDS……

        The world does not want to take action on Syria because this is not about Syria alone, the picture is so much bigger…It is to set the ME on fire with the Arabs doing the job for them……..on each other…….think about it Arabs hate each other and what better way to get them to tear each other apart….

    This incident comes after the Syrian pilot defected with his plane ,it is to divert attention from this incident and from the military escalation of shelling towns and cities !It is also to start a regional war and they are trying to test reactions ! They will do anything to continue to cling to power!!!!
