Hezbollah Secretary-General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah addressed via video link the mass rally organized by Hezbollah in honor of visiting Iranian leader president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
“Your excellency…I welcome you on behalf of Amal Movement leadership and supporters on behalf of Hezbollah leadership and supporters on behalf of all the sons of Moussa al Sadr on behalf of all the admirers of Imam Khumaini on behalf of all our allies in Lebanon I welcome you tonight”
He added: “Some in our Arab region are speaking of an Iranian scheme for Palestine and Lebanon, and they’re trying to frighten us with it, I bear witness that what Iran wants in Palestine is what the Palestinians want for Palestine.”
He continued: ” The West can’t put up with the Iranian president because he says the truth and declares that Israel must be eradicated. Iran’s role in the Arab region is for the sake of the Arab Nation.”
The leader of Hezbollah, considered a state within a state in Lebanon added: ” Iran wants Lebanon to be sovereign and free … and it does not have a scheme of its own to implement in Lebanon.”
The Iranian president met with Nasrallah earlier amidst a media blackout because the latter has been in hiding ever since the 2006 war with Israel
Ahmadinejad arrived at the al-Raya stadium in Dahiyeh , a suburb of Beirut and a Hezbollah stronghold just after 7 : 00 pm to attend a mass rally organized by Hezbollah in his honor.
Addressing the mass rally at al-Raya stadium Ahmadinejad said : “Lebanon is the school of resistance and steadfastness in the face of the tyrants of this world , and it is the school of heroism and jihad for the sake of the holy humanitarian goals.”
He continued: ” I come from the land of Imam al-Khomeini, may God be pleased with him, carrying the finest salutations and the love of the Iranian people and their guiding leadership, dear and beloved ones.”
In reference to former Prime Minster Rafik Hariri’s assassination and the reports that Hezbollah may be behind it he said: “They are seeking to create disputes in our region. In Lebanon we find that the vicious hand of crime had assassinated a dear friend and a dignitary who was loyal to his country, and then we see how reports get fabricated.”
With regards to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack he said: “From here, I announce that the formation of an independent and neutral team to examine the facts and discover the truth of the September 11 events is the demand of all the peoples of the region and the world.”
