Culture Minister Salim Wardeh told OTV on Wednesday that he is against imposing sanctions on Iran at the UN Security Council, adding that the Lebanese Forces agree as well.

The best position for Lebanon, as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, is to abstain from a vote on sanctions against Iran, Wardeh said.

The LF, Future Movement and March 14 alliance have not coordinated a decision on the sanctions issue, Wardeh said.

The UN Security Council is expected to vote Wednesday on the sanctions against Iran. 12 out of 15 members are expected to vote in favor , while Lebanon, Brazil and Turkey are expected to abstain.
