A court in Kuwait has sentenced a prominent local imam to seven years in jail after he was found guilty of having collected money to help fund the Al-Qaeda terror network.

According to the local daily al-Jarida, the unnamed imam, preached at the al-Hamdi mosque and apparently asked the faithful for donations to build a second mosque. However, the news report said that the money was instead diverted to two other accomplices who were due to travel to Pakistan for training at an alleged Al-Qaeda camp to fight in Afghanistan : Source: AKI
