According to Voice of Lebanon report this particular explosion was the result of a discovery by Hezbollah of cables used for spying on their telecommunications network.
The report added that two cables of 50 meters each were discovered in the area which lies near the Israeli Abbad outpost on the other side of the border.
VOL said one of the cables was used for wiretapping while the other for broadcasting.
Following the explosion, the Lebanese army and U.N. peacekeepers headed to the area to find out the causes of the blast. Panicky residents in Houla and Mais al-Jabal also ran out to the streets, according to VOL.
According to morning reports the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) found a battery connected to the Israeli spying cable network device that exploded last night and blew it up.
Unlike the case of the first 2 mysterious explosions, Israel this time cannot blame this explosion on Hezbollah arms depots .
Israel has been intensifying its spying activity in Lebanon ever since the beginning of this year .
Last May Lebanese authorities broke up an Israeli spy ring and arrested 30 people including an army colonel on suspicion of spying for Israel. More Israeli spy rings and more arrests were made since including high ranking army officers. Lebanon has submitted several complained to the UN about the Israeli spy activities , but this has not stopped the Israelis. Moreover, Israel has been continuously violating Lebanese airspace and has been using drones to spy on Lebanon , but neither the UN nor the major powers participating in the UNIFIL force have been able to stop the Israelis. Israel has never respected UN resolutions and UNSCR 1701 is not therefore the exception
