Sunni neighborhood of Aisha Bakkar in west Beirut. The armed clash resulted in the killing of one woman and the wounding of at least 2 others .

Mystery still surrounds the killing of the 30-year-old woman that was identified as Zaina El Miri, but some security sources said the woman was killed by a stray bullet.

There was no immediate word on what triggered the clashes in which automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades were used

The Lebanese army intervened and ordered its troops to open fire on any armed elements in the street as it tried to restore calm.

Emergency contacts were established last night between Hariri, Berri and the president following the eruption of the violence to try to put an end to the clashes .

Yesterday's incident brought back the ugly memories of May 2008, when Hezbollah backed by Amal and its other allies in the opposition occupied west Beirut and unsuccessfully tried to occupy the Druze strongholds in Mount Lebanon.

According to NNA Both Berri and Hariri agreed to remove the political cover for all those involved in the violence last night and asked the army not to be lenient with any of the suspects.
