"I accept the announced results of these elections, with sportsmanship and democratic spirit." Nasrallah said

The Hezbollah leader congratulated the winners:

"I want to congratulate the winners in these elections, and they must know that they are holding the responsibility of this representation, and they should rise to this responsibility."

Nasrallah started out his concession speech by congratulating the Lebanese people .

"I want to congratulate the Lebanese people for this national electoral achievement, and the high turnout for it." He said

He then congratulated the organizers of the polls:

" I want to congratulate the judiciary, the LAF, and the security forces for managing this process and preserving the security and peace, and enabling a large number of Lebanese to practice their rights. The one-day elections were a big challenge, and we succeeded in this challenge." He said

The Western-backed March 14 alliance landed 71 seats in the 128-member parliament against 57 for Hezbollah and allies, according to the official results announced earlier today by Interior Minister Ziad Baroud ..

Hezbollah ( party of God) , which is backed by Iran and Syria, landed 11 seats in the race.

Nasrallah defends Hezbollah and its arms

-"I want to point to the fall of two big lies, one of which is that the opposition wanted to disrupt the elections, in case the outcome was not in its favor."

-"The second lie, which we refuted, is the ability to hold the elections while the Resistance maintains its arms. The elections were held under the threat of the arsenal of the Resistance, which is the biggest since 1982, and were held peacefully. This proves that these arms are not being used to impose a new political reality, or to bring or exclude faces from political arena."

As in past speeches he warned about messing with the Hezbollah arms:

"The people who voted for us have shown that supporting the Resistance is a popular choice, especially in the regions that are under constant threat. The arms of the resistance are not up for discussion. They are present because of the peoples’ will, and will be left for the dialogue table." He said

Calls for building the country

Nasrallah appealed for joint action in defending , developing and building the country

"Let us defend, build the republic based on truth, clarity and not on fears, threats and lies together. " He said

And added :
"Solving the problems of this country, and preserving the freedom and Sovereignty needs the solidarity and cooperation of all parties"

"Let us build the republic based on truth, clarity and transparency, and not on fears, threats and lies" He said

Hezbollah allies also admitted defeat and accepted the results

Earlier today , Speaker Nabih Berri issued a statement in which he accepted the results congratulated his opponents and praised PSP leader Walid Jumblatt and Al Mustaqbal leader Saad Hariri for their stand following the poll results .

FPM leader General Michel Aoun also admitted defeat , accepted the results and called for forming a government soon
