The alliance said in a statement " the Syrian regime is trying to preempt the final report by the international commission probing the 2005 assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri and related crimes."
Prime Minister Fouad Siniora on Saturday criticized Syria for addressing the issue of terrorism through its official television instead of tackling it through proper channels with Lebanon. He said he would discuss the issue with President Michel Suleiman and Interior Minister Ziad Baroud. He was referring to alleged charges by detained Fatah al-Islam members who appeared earlier in the week on Syria's official television claiming that al Mustaqbal Movement had financed their network.
In another show of allegiance to Syria, FPM's Social Affairs Minister Mario Aoun defended Syria's action during an Interview with Radio Free Lebanon: "Syrian accusations broadcasted on Syrian television are a response to accusations by the March 14 Forces against Syria of standing behind the assassinations." Aoun said.
Aoun is not happy with PM Siniora and with the way his bodyguards were treated at the Serail. He told FPM's OTV station: "I am insisting on an investigation of the attack incident against my bodyguards and will not be quiet about it". According to An Nahar the cameras at the Serail should help the investigation of the incident
