He stressed that he did not want to change the existing system in Lebanon. "We do not want Wilayat al-Faqih , with all due respect, and we do not hide anything from the Lebanese.
"We do not want to be misunderstood, for in Lebanon we are ruled by consensus and participation and openness to and respect for others," Qabalan added
During his controversial speech last Monday Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah asserted that he is part of Iran's regime (Wilayat al Faqih).
Qabalan wants Ministry of Finance
Sheikh Qabalan called for the rotation of ministries among "qualified people" of different confessions to ensure that no ministry was "monopolized by a certain confession."
"We demand justice and equality, and the right person in the right place regardless of their political or confessional affiliation," Sheikh Qabalan added.
Sheikh Qabalan said the council had requested the Ministry of Finance, which he said was their "right" as the first Finance Minister after the Taif Agreement had been Shia.
Qabalan wants a VP position for the Shiites
Earlier Sheikh Qabal caused an outrage within the Christian community when he demanded that the Shiites should have a post of Vice President in Lebanon .
MP Butros Harb said that Qabalan's demand was a breach of the constitution "since there is nothing in the constitution called Vice President post."
"This is a demand that cannot be fulfilled," Harb added.
Lebanese Forces MP George Adwan, said Qabalan's suggestion "came at the wrong time."
